The purpose of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE) shall be to promote the improvement of rehabilitation services available to persons with disabilities through quality education and rehabilitation research. NCRE will emphasize up-to-date education and training and the maintenance of professional standards in the field of rehabilitation by:

Fostering educational and learning opportunities to enable rehabilitation educators and researchers to study, deliberate, and act upon matters affecting rehabilitation education and research with the ultimate goal of expanding quality rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities.

Developing effective communication mechanisms to support the formulation and expression of the collective points of view of rehabilitation educators and researchers on all issues affecting rehabilitation education and disseminating these views to service providers, related facilities, companies, and concerned citizens.

Participating in the legislative process and encouraging constructive advocacy with related organizations and governmental bodies on matters related to rehabilitation education, consumer rights and services, and research.

Supporting a nationwide program of rehabilitation research and demonstration leading to the improvement of rehabilitation education and rehabilitation services.

Working to promote the effective preparation of new personnel in the field of rehabilitation and the maintenance of professional standards for both individual service providers and professional education/training programs.
