Beginning with this past April 2003 examination, the CRC exam is constructed in a manner to allow scoring on two parts. One part pertains to counseling-related issues and the other part pertains to rehabilitation and disability-related issues. This model of scoring, known as conjunctive scoring, will require that examinees achieve a passing score on both parts of the examination in order to achieve a passing score on the examination as a whole. CRCC resolved that this change, among other factors, leads to a sharper definition of rehabilitation counseling in that it includes both counseling and rehabilitation/disability components that are equally important. Questions related to counseling or to rehabilitation/disability issues will continue to be intermingled in both the morning and afternoon sections of the examination so that factors such as fatigue do not interfere with an examinee's performance on a particular part. The attached excerpt from the CRC Certification Guide provides detailed information regarding the knowledge domains and subdomains that are tested as well as the number of questions in each knowledge domain. The full CRC Certification Guide is accessible on CRCC's website at http://www.crccertification.com. Sections 10 and 13 include information about the scoring process.
