NCRE Distance Education Special Interest Section

Welcome to the NCRE's special interest section on Distance Education. Distance education has become an important part of rehabilitation education as there are a growing number of distance education courses and programs being offered at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Distance education offers an opportunity for more access to rehabilitation education for students who otherwise would not be engaged in these programs due to geographical or other constraints.

At the October 2003 NCRE Board meeting, approval was given to develop a special interest section for rehabilitation educators interested in distance education. This special interest section has been established to encourage and support quality education via distance education by providing an organized means for rehabilitation educators to share information about distance education. Through this interaction, best practices and standards for distance rehabilitation education course and program delivery will be established.

The Distance Education Special Interest Section is now in its fledgling stage. Focus initially will be on developing a structure that will meet the needs of the group. How it will evolve is by the input from members. Please, send your comments!
